The song 'Tears in Heaven' was written by Eric Clapton about the pain he felt following the 1991 death of his four-year-old son, Connor, who fell from a 53rd-story window at their New York appartment. His mother was looking after him and the cleaner had just cleaned the 6ft by 4ft window and left it open to air out the room when Connor ran past him and fell out the open window.
Eric was staying at a nearby hotel at the time.
here are the lyrics :
Would you know my name
Eric was staying at a nearby hotel at the time.
here are the lyrics :
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong,
and carry on Cause I know
I don't belong Here in heaven
Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I'll find my way, through night and day
Cause I know I just can't stay Here in heaven
Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knee
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please
(instrumental)
Beyond the door There's peace I'm sure.
And I know there'll be no more... Tears in heaven
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on Cause I know
I don't belong Here in heaven
Cause I know I don't belong Here in heaven
I was listening to the words and thinking about the grief he must have been feeling then I thought what if there is no after life and when you die that's it ? the last time he saw Connor was the night before at a circus, he didn't know he'd never see his boy alive again or ever again, how many times has he wished to have gone back to that happy time and given his boy one more big final hug?
