Captain David Hicks of the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment was hit by shrapnel during a surprise rocket attack from the Taliban in Afghanistan.
The 26 year-old officer should have been evacuated but he refused to leave his men and ordered them to let him return to his position, he also refused morphine so his thinking wasn't fogged up by it.
He led his men against the Taliban attack and was later pronounced dead at the British Hospital in Camp Bastion due to his wounds.
A true hero and leader, who cared about his troops as they did him.
