A former driver for senior members of Sinn Fein has been revealed to be an informer for MI5.

Roy McShane has left Northern Ireland and has gone under protective custody.

As a driver, he would have been in a position to overhear potentially sensitive discussions about Sinn Fein.
Sinn Fein said Mr McShane had been under suspicion for some time and been sidelined.

Sinn Fein's Alex Maskey said Mr McShane was under no threat from republicans, but had to make his "own peace" with his family.
"He's safe, let's face it the war is over, I see him under no threat at all from republicans," he said.

Hold on a minute, was the war not over when informer Denis Donaldson was shot to death in 2006 ? Its the old we have nothing against him but if someone else cuts his head off well its nothing to do with us. Mr McShane knows the war may be over but is he stupid enough to think there won't be grudges held?
